My Review:
“All stories are made of both truth and lies, she used to say. What matters is the way that we believe in them.”
I’ll be honest, I was hesitant to pick this book up because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Caravel. The bookstagram peer pressure to read Once Upon a Broken Heart is real, but I definitely wasn’t disappointed.
I adored how hopeful and whimsical Evangeline was at the beginning and slowly grew out of her naivety as the story progressed. I also enjoyed her insatiable curiosity. I liked Jack’s character a lot, but he didn’t have a definite character arc to me, but I’m hoping to see more of him. The worldbuilding was extravagant and lush while being easy to follow so I’m absolutely ordering book two

He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after or the most exquisite tragedy…
